    Dubarry size & fit guide

This guide is for our Dubarry Admirals deck shoes. Admirals are made in UK sizes, including half sizes. Start with your usual UK size, then adjust the leather laces and check both feet while walking.

    Size chart

Order Admirals by the UK size shown on your chosen product. EU equivalents below are approximate. Foot lengths are Dubarry’s general EU guidance, not measurements of each Admirals half size. A dash means that conversion or measurement is not confirmed. Only sizes listed on the product are available.

A chart comparison is a starting point, not a guarantee of fit. Check the style’s width and the sizes available before ordering.

    How Dubarry shoes fit

    • Adjust the leather laces: Set the lacing to hold the instep and heel comfortably. A barrel-knot finish is a way of wearing the laces, rather than a change to the shoe’s size.
    • Toe and heel room: Check that your toes have room and the heel stays secure while walking. Leather softening should not be relied on to correct a shoe that is too short.
    • Your usual socks: Try on with the socks you plan to wear for school or everyday use. Check both feet while standing and walking indoors.

    Between sizes?

If your usual size falls between two Admirals sizes, try the two neighbouring UK half sizes with your usual socks. Your toes should not press against the front and the widest part of your foot should not feel pinched. Adjust the laces all around the foot for a secure heel; contact us if you still feel pressure or slipping.

Brand guidance is a starting point. Product-specific details and the way the shoe holds your foot also matter.

When your shoes arrive: a quick fit check

Try them indoors on a clean surface before deciding to keep them.

    1. Try both shoes. Wear your usual socks or tights and any insoles you intend to use. Adjust the fastenings.
    2. Check toe room. Your toes should move comfortably, without pressing against the front or being squeezed at the sides.
    3. Take a few steps. Check for persistent heel slipping, rubbing or pressure across the top of your foot.
    4. Something feels wrong? Ask us before wearing them outside. A different width or shape may help more than changing size.

    How to measure your feet

    Foot lengthHeel against wall
    1. Place a sheet of paper on a hard, level floor with one edge against a wall. Wear the socks you plan to wear with the shoes.
    2. Stand with your heel gently against the wall and your weight on the foot. Have someone mark the end of your longest toe, keeping the pencil upright.
    3. Measure from the wall edge to the mark in centimetres. Repeat for your other foot and use the longer measurement. Measuring towards the end of the day can be helpful.

Only compare this measurement with a chart labelled foot length. An insole or shoe measurement may include extra space and is not interchangeable. Do not add an allowance unless that brand’s instructions specifically say to.
