  • Wonders Shoes for Autumn: Boots, Loafers and Trainers

    5 min read

The autumn edit · Leavys Shoes

Rich brown suede, glossy black loafers and metallic trainers: our autumn Wonders collection brings plenty of detail to everyday dressing. The trick is choosing the shape and finish that suit how you actually dress.

Here is our guide to seven styles at Leavys Shoes, from a pointed ankle boot for smarter plans to a chunky trainer for jeans and knitwear. We also explain WondersFly and MemoryGel, so you know what those comfort features mean when comparing pairs.

    Where would you wear yours?

    Everyday denim

A metallic trainer adds interest to a simple jumper and jeans.

Black loafers and bow slip-ons give tailored trousers a polished finish.

WondersFly and MemoryGel: what is the difference?

These names describe different parts of a shoe. A lightweight sole changes how a chunky style feels to lift; a cushioned footbed changes the feel beneath your foot.

    WondersFly

Lightness in the sole. Used in selected styles to keep a substantial sole light underfoot. Several pairs below use expanded EVA with XL EXTRALIGHT technology.

    MemoryGel

Cushioning underfoot. A footbed designed to adapt to the shape of your foot, giving a softer feel inside the shoe.

    Removable footbed

A feature to check separately. The XFly trainer below has a removable MemoryGel insole. MemoryGel alone does not mean an insole can be removed.

Features vary by style. See Wonders’ technology guide for the brand’s sole technologies, and each product page for the details of that particular pair.

For jeans and knitwear: the metallic XFly trainer

Wonders pewter and bronze XFly trainers with black platform soles, worn with blue jeans

A little shine for everyday outfits

    XFly Pewter & Bronze Trainers

The metallic leather and oversized W detail make these a good starting point if your autumn wardrobe is mostly navy, grey or black. Elastic laces and a rounded toe keep the look relaxed.

They combine a WondersFly sole with a removable MemoryGel insole. If you use your own insoles, check there is enough depth and that your heel still feels secure with them fitted.

Wear with: straight-leg jeans, a cream knit and a long coat. Let the metallic finish be the main detail.

For a polished finish: two black wedge slip-ons

Both styles below have a 4.5 cm wedge, WondersFly soles and MemoryGel cushioning. The choice comes down to the finish you prefer and how securely each shape holds your foot.

Black Wonders patent loafers with croc-effect panels and wedge soles, worn with cream trousers

    Glossy patent · C-33360

    Black Patent Wedge Loafers

Croc-effect panels and a classic front strap give these loafers a smart, textured finish. Elastic inserts beside the tongue help when putting them on. The all-black design works easily with office outfits or dark denim.

Wear with: ankle-length tailored trousers and a shirt, or straight jeans and a relaxed blazer.

Black Wonders leather bow shoes with wedge soles, worn with tights and a grey skirt

    Soft bow detail · C-33159

    Black Leather Bow Slip-Ons

Smooth leather and a large bow offer a softer alternative to a classic loafer. The rounded toe and simple slip-on design make this a useful option when you want a dressier-looking shoe without laces or buckles.

Wear with: a midi skirt and tights, or cropped trousers with a fine knit.

Our fitting tip: a slip-on should hold your heel without your toes gripping to keep it on. Try both shoes with socks or tights you plan to wear. A roomy upper is not a reason to buy a shoe that is too short.

Four ankle boots, four different looks

Start with the clothes you wear most. Brown suede works beautifully with autumn neutrals; black gives a clean line with dark tights or trousers. A pointed toe and covered heel create a dressier effect than a chunky wedge.

Dark brown Wonders suede ankle boots with contrast stitching and black wedge soles, worn with brown tights

    Warm suede · G-7033

    Dark Brown Suede Wedge Boots

Curved panels and contrast stitching bring out the rich brown suede. An inside zip makes them easy to put on, while a 6.5 cm heel, WondersFly sole and MemoryGel footbed give this bold shape its combination of height and cushioning.

Wear with: cream knitwear and dark jeans, or a midi dress with brown tights.

Black Wonders Toronto ankle boots with stretch shafts and chunky soles, worn with dark tights

    Neat stretch shaft · G-7030

    Toronto Black Stretch Boots

Leather around the foot and a stretch shaft create a close-fitting outline around the ankle. This style has an inside zip, a 6.5 cm heel, WondersFly sole and MemoryGel cushioning. Stretch around the ankle does not automatically mean extra width around the foot.

Wear with: a knitted dress and tights, or trousers that fall neatly over the top.

Black Wonders suede ankle boots with silver front zips, patterned trim and contrasting zigzag sole edges

    Statement front zip · C-7632

    Black Suede Front Zip Boots

The silver-tone front zip and patterned trim make these the most detailed black boots in this edit. Their sculpted expanded EVA wedge sole has a contrasting zigzag edge, while the suede upper keeps the finish soft and matte.

Wear with: cropped trousers that show the zip, or simple jeans and a cosy jumper.

Dark brown Wonders Eliot croc-effect leather ankle boots with pointed toes and block heels, worn with cream jeans

    A dressier shape · I-9013

    Eliot Brown Croc Leather Boots

Embossed leather, a pointed toe and a 6 cm covered block heel give Eliot a sharper outline. A side zip, leather interior and MemoryGel cushioning complete the design. This pair uses a flexible TPU sole, giving it a different construction from the WondersFly styles above.

Wear with: tailored trousers for dinner, or a skirt and tonal knitwear.

    Choosing your Wonders size

These styles are listed in EU sizes. For a quick starting point, Wonders gives the following women’s UK equivalents:

    EU 37UK 4
    EU 38UK 5
    EU 39UK 6
    EU 40UK 7
    EU 41UK 8

Source: the women’s size guide on Wonders’ XFly product page. Conversions are a guide; they do not describe the width or depth of every style. Sizes available to order vary by pair.

    • Check length and width together. Your toes need room without being pressed against the front or sides. In a pointed boot, the decorative point is not where your toes should sit.
    • Check the heel and fastening. Loafers should feel secure, and boot zips should close comfortably without forcing them.
    • Ask about the particular style. If you are between sizes or need extra width, contact us with the style name and your usual size before ordering.

A few useful questions before you choose

Are these Wonders shoes suitable for wet weather?

A chunky sole does not make a shoe waterproof, and these styles are not listed as waterproof footwear. Suede, patent and smooth leather also need different care. Let damp shoes dry naturally away from direct heat and use care products suitable for the exact finish.

Do all Wonders shoes have removable insoles?

No. The XFly trainer featured here has a removable MemoryGel footbed. Check each style’s description rather than assuming all MemoryGel footbeds come out.

How should I ease into a new pair?

Once you are happy with the fit, start by sitting at home with them on for about an hour, without walking around. Then take them off for the rest of the day. Build up gradually over the following days, adding short periods of walking once they feel comfortable while seated. This gives the material time to settle around your feet before a full day’s wear. Stop if they pinch or hurt; wearing them in will not correct the wrong size.
