  • Are Tamaris Shoes Comfortable? TOUCHit and Fit Explained

    4 min read

Tamaris black patent-effect loafers with horsebit trim and low block heels, worn with grey trousers

    The Tamaris comfort guide

A soft footbed is a lovely starting point, but the right fit matters just as much. Here is how to understand Tamaris comfort features and choose a pair that suits your feet and your day.

    Are Tamaris shoes comfortable?

Many Tamaris styles offer features designed to improve comfort, including cushioned footbeds, heel cushioning and soft linings. How comfortable a particular pair feels still depends on its width, shape, heel height and fit. A trainer for everyday outfits and a pointed court shoe will feel quite different.

TOUCHit, ANTIshokk and ANTIslide: what do they do?

These names describe different parts of a shoe. They appear on selected styles, so check the product details for the pair you like.

    Under your foot · Cushioning

    TOUCHit

A soft memory-foam footbed adapts to the shape of your foot. You may also see it written as TOUCH-IT.

Helps the feel underfoot. It does not change the shoe’s width or length.

Inside the heel · Shock absorption

    ANTIshokk

A cushioning mechanism in the heel helps absorb impact as you step.

Look for it in the style’s specification; a block heel alone does not mean it has ANTIshokk.

    Heel meets ground · Grip

    ANTIslide

A profiled heel patch is designed to improve traction. This is the feature you may see described as anti-slip.

It is not a guarantee against slipping, particularly on wet or smooth surfaces.

    Around your foot · Softness

    COMFORT lining

A soft textile lining gives the inside of the shoe a gentler feel against your foot. It is listed on our brown metallic leather trainers below.

A lining feature is separate from the footbed and from the Tamaris Comfort range.

TOUCHit, ANTIshokk and ANTIslide explanations follow Tamaris’s feature descriptions. COMFORT lining is described on the official brown trainer page.

Cushioning, width and removable footbeds are different

    Want a softer footbed?

Look for TOUCHit. Then check that the shoe’s shape and size suit your foot.

    Need more width?

Look for an explicit wide-fit or H-fitting description. TOUCHit is not a width label.

    Use your own insoles?

Check for a removable footbed and enough room for your foot with the replacement in place.

Not all Tamaris shoes are wide fitting. The black loafer below is a standard fit; the navy/gold trainer belongs to the Tamaris Comfort range and is specifically listed as H wide fit. Going up a size just to gain width can leave too much length or a loose heel.

TOUCHit does not automatically mean removable. Our featured black loafer has a fixed footbed. The two trainers below have removable footbeds. For cushioning and lining details, check the features listed for each pair.

Tamaris size guide: UK, EU, cm and mm

Start with your usual size, then check the style’s fit notes. Use the size system shown on the product page. This chart follows Tamaris’s official size guide; it is a starting point, not a promise that every style fits identically.

Tamaris women’s size conversion and guide foot lengths
EU size UK size Foot length
    cm
    Foot length
    mm
    36 3.5 22.5 225
    37 4 23.1 231
    38 5 23.8 238
    39 6 24.5 245
    40 6.5 25.1 251
    41 7.5 25.8 258
    42 8 26.5 265

These are foot-length guide values, not insole measurements. Millimetres are centimetres multiplied by ten. Conversions differ between brands; not every size is available in every style.

One example from the Tamaris chart

    EU 38UK 523.8 cm / 238 mm

To measure: stand on paper in socks you expect to wear, mark your heel and longest toe, and measure between them. Measure both feet and use the longer result. Compare your actual foot length with the chart without adding extra centimetres. If you fall between values, ask us about the specific style.

Check the fit before a full day of wear

    • Toes: they should have room to move without being pressed together.
    • Instep: adjust laces or straps and check for pressure across the top of your foot.
    • Heel: it should feel secure without repeatedly lifting out or rubbing.

Once the fit feels right, start by sitting at home with your shoes on for about an hour, without walking around. Foot warmth can help the material settle around your feet. Take them off for the day, build up gradually over the following days and introduce short walks once seated wear feels comfortable. Take them off sooner if they hurt.

A soft footbed and gentle wearing-in cannot correct the wrong size or shape. Read our guides to checking shoe fit and wearing in new shoes for more help.
